To use charcoal for incense, first light a charcoal disk with a lighter or match, holding it with tongs until it's glowing red and has stopped sparking. Then, place the hot charcoal into a heat-proof incense burner filled with a bed of sand or ash for heat diffusion. Finally, add a small amount of your chosen resin, powder, or herbs onto the glowing charcoal.
